Duties
- Safely climb trees using specialized arborist rigging techniques to perform pruning, trimming, and removal tasks.
- Operate bucket trucks and other aerial lift equipment to access high branches efficiently and securely.
- Conduct tree assessments to identify health issues, structural weaknesses, or hazards that require intervention.
- Execute tree removal projects with precision, ensuring minimal impact on surrounding landscapes and structures.
- Apply plant pruning care techniques to promote healthy growth, flowering, and fruit production.
- Use GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools for mapping tree locations and documenting maintenance activities.
- Rig trees or branches for safe lowering during removal or pruning projects using appropriate rigging gear.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols throughout all operations, including chainsaw handling and equipment use.
- Assist with landscape maintenance tasks such as lawn care, planting, and general horticultural upkeep when needed.
- Collaborate with team members to plan work sequences, ensure safety compliance, and complete projects efficiently.
Skills
- Proven experience in outdoor tree care, landscaping, or horticulture with growing knowledge of dendrology (the study of trees).
- Skilled in arborist rigging techniques, including the use of ropes, pulleys, and other rigging gear for safe tree work.
- Proficient in operating bucket trucks and aerial lifts safely for elevated work tasks.
- Familiarity with GIS mapping tools for site documentation and planning purposes.
- Strong understanding of tree removal procedures and plant pruning care best practices.
- Experience with chainsaw operation and maintenance for cutting branches or entire trees.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to climbing arboriculture and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety.
