Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: The Yard Laborer position will be responsible for torching larger pieces of metal, moving materials and purchasing scrap from walk-in customers.
REPORTS TO: Yard Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Torching large pieces of Metal
- Assisting customers.
- Unloading customer’s items.
- Identifying materials (prepared and unprepared).
- Purchasing items at correct price.
- Regular and timely attendance are an expectation of the position.
- Follow the 5S foundations for deploying lean production tools and processes.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma preferred but not required.
COMPETENCIES:
- Self-starter that takes initiative along with analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills
- Ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Physical Activity: Talking, hearing, repetitive motion, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, and climbing stairs.
- Physical Requirements: Exerting up to one hundred (100) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to fifty (50) pounds of force frequently, and/or up to twenty (20) pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual Acuity: ability to operate machinery and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned including making general observations of facilities.
