Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure precise execution of masonry work
- Construct walls, facades, arches, and other structures using bricks, stone masonry, concrete blocks, and related materials
- Prepare surfaces by applying mortar, plastering, or stucco to ensure proper adhesion and finish quality
- Install rebar reinforcement and perform concrete forming and finishing tasks for structural stability
- Build masonry scaffolding safely to access elevated work areas and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Operate hand tools and power tools effectively for cutting, shaping, and laying bricks or stones
- Collaborate with project managers and other trades such as carpentry or roofing to coordinate tasks efficiently
- Maintain a clean work environment by properly handling building materials like mortar mix, concrete, stone, and related supplies
- Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and construction plans throughout each phase of the project
Requirements
- Proven experience in concrete masonry work with a solid understanding of bricklaying techniques and mortar work
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately for project execution
- Familiarity with construction estimating processes and interpreting construction plans
- Hands-on experience with rebar installation, concrete forming, finishing techniques, stucco application, and tile laying
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as trowels, hammers, chisels as well as power tools including saws and drills
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation relevant to masonry projects is a plus
- Strong understanding of safety protocols on construction sites with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
- Experience in renovation or restoration projects involving stone masonry or historic building preservation is desirable
- Ability to interpret technical specifications related to building materials like mortar mixes or schematics for structural components
- Excellent teamwork skills with the flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements
