Recreation Therapist

Gear Support Services is a Medicaid waiver provider of Behavior Management services. The owner has 25 years of experience as a behavior consultant and over 30 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. We are looking to expand our programming options by adding Recreational Therapy to the services offered. Come Grow with Us.

The position is part-time with the opportunity to develop into a full-time position if desired. It will take time to develop a caseload as referrals come in through Medicaid Waiver.

Contract work (1099) with the ability to work remotely, create your own schedule, caseload size and areas served. The more flexible your schedule and areas served, the quicker your caseload will grow.

Starting Pay Range from $45 to $57 per billable hour depending on experience level. This information is based on the implementation of new billing rates.

Requires local travel, reliable transportation, auto insurance as well as professional liability insurance.

Job Description: The Recreation Therapist assists individuals with various developmental and physical disabilities live their best lives. This will be accomplished through home and community based therapeutic recreation activities. The Recreation Therapist will use the community and leisure experiences to help clients reach their therapeutic goals and outcomes outlined in the Person-Centered Individual Support Plan.

Qualifications:

1. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist /Therapist certified by the national council for therapeutic recreation certification.

2. must have a valid license and reliable transportation.

3. CPR certified.

4. Liability insurance.

Responsibilities of Recreation Therapist:

1. Provide Supports that focus on the individual leading their best life and that put the wants and needs of the individual receiving support before those of other individuals or agencies providing supports.

2. Recreational Therapy Services must complement other services the individual receives and enhance increasing independence for the individual

3. Maintain regular, effective communication and contact with the individual supported, family members, staff members, clients, and all other treatment team members as applicable.

4. Maintain professional conduct across all settings and in all communications.

5. Ensure the privacy of the individuals supported by following all HIPAA guidelines.

6. Participate in team meetings.

7. Review the efficacy of the plan at least quarterly and adjusted as necessary.

8. Provide a written report to pertinent parties at least quarterly. Pertinent parties include the individual, guardian, BDDS service coordinator, waiver case manager, all service providers, and other involved entities.

9. Provide support and services where needed: home, community, day program, etc.

10. Attendance record, Behavior logs, and/or chart detailing service provided, date, and time.

11. Maintain documentation that meets the requirements of the 460 IAC 6.

12. As applicable, monthly/quarterly reports must be uploaded to the document library of the state’s case management system by the chosen service provider on or before the 15th day of the following month
