Job Summary
To oversee the day-to-day operations, resource management, and foster innovation to support the growth of the production department.
Oversee the safety and productivity of all team members, the coordination of projects and prioritization of project assignments and management of all internal labor. Work closely with other departments to ensure adherence to project plans, schedules and inventory management. This role will be called upon to supervise weekend and evening shifts.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all necessary resources, including supplies, teams, machinery, and facilities, are effectively staffed, stocked, and maintained.
- Foster a forward-thinking approach towards resources, with a particular emphasis on teams and talent development, machinery enhancement, and automation implementation.
- Implement systems and tools to proactively identify and address supply, team, and equipment issues.
- Create SOP’s and work standards for production operators to efficiently / accurately execute complex routing tasks.
- Subject matter expert of raw material components, workflow routing, quality control protocols, and equipment setup / routine maintenance procedures.
- Lead the structured approach for continuous improvement and innovation within the production department.
- Develop actionable plans to execute and monitor progress on initiatives aimed at optimizing efficiency, quality, and production capacity.
- Supervise all daily activities of the of production zone and oversee manufacturing and functions as applicable.
- Troubleshoot issues in production zone, material handling zone and Ops. planning in order to optimize operations through partnerships.
- Supervise and train warehouse personnel on manufacturing procedures, safety, work standards, compliance requirements, efficiency and ergonomics.
- Conduct attendance discipline reviews when needed.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, material handling equipment and perform regular maintenance.
- Other tasks as directed by the Director of Manufacturing and Distribution.
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Warehouse Management System (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning software (ERP), Microsoft Business Central & Power BI experience
- Forklift Certified
- Barcode label creation
- SOP/Process Mapping Creation
- Lean Manufacturing Processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to lead / direct teams to work efficiently.
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Competence in math, computer skills, complex problem solving.
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
- Proficient in the following areas: Operation of machines such as sit-down and stand-up forklift, General knowledge of tools required to perform maintenance, Problem solving, Root cause analysis, Time studying, Development of optimal cycle times, Work center balancing, ROI analysis, KPI reporting.
- Love for the outdoors!
Physical Requirements
- On site work is required. Must be able to work on location daily.
- Able to stand for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to spend time in production environments.
- Some local travel for events or training may be required.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2 years relative supervisory experience
- Experience supervising production and material staff
- Experience maintaining manufacturing equipment
