The Tax Intern is a part-time role that provides support to the Tax Department on a variety of routine tasks and special projects. This position offers hands-on experience in both indirect and direct tax functions and will work closely with the tax and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
Indirect Tax Support
- Assist with the use of tax and accounting software platforms (e.g., tax calculation and ERP systems).
- Review, verify, and process customer sales tax exemption certificates.
- Maintain and update tax codes and exemption statuses within ERP systems.
- Prepare and provide exemption certificates to vendors as needed.
- Set up new customer tax profiles and update existing ones within tax systems.
- Assist in gathering documentation requested for state and local sales/use tax audits.
- Support Indirect Tax Manager with special projects.
- Assist with reconciling state and local income tax general ledger accounts.
- Compile and review information used in preparing income tax returns.
- Respond to various state income and franchise tax notices.
- Prepare supporting information for tax notices or audit requests.
- Research tax issues and draft summary memoranda as directed.
- Support Tax Senior Manager with special projects and analysis.
- Current student pursing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Proactive with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to ask questions and seek clarification when needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
