Job Description Summary
The Senior Distinguished Staff Engineer for Defense & Systems Core Products will report to the Engineering Executive Director, GE Edison Works - Core Fleets and be responsible for leading teams to design, test, produce, and support military turbofan/turboshaft engines. They will support the department in meeting internal and external customer commitments including technical, cost, and schedule objectives, and will be accountable for broad functional and business.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
As a Senior Distinguished Staff Engineer, you will:
- Lead internal experts, customers, and partners to solve significant technical issues in development and operational/fielded engines consistent with cost and schedule constraints.
- Provide technical support to teams engaged in development and production to help meet business goals for program milestones, delivery, and product cost.
- Provide support to the executive director in strategy development in areas such as lean deployment, organizational efficiency, and technical development.
- Act as a mentor and coach for senior/staff engineers across the products supported within the department.
- Facilitate rapid communication of best practices and implementation of process improvements/corrective actions to ensure product safety and quality across the products supported within the department.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant engineering position

Desired Characteristics
- Experience with some of the following: turbine engine/component design, engine/aircraft integration, engine performance, engine controls, engine validation/test
- Understanding of manufacturing of precision components using methods such as those used in turbine engines, including casting/forging, conventional/non-conventional machining, coatings.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by influence
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience working with DoD customer and processes
