The NDT Level III Quality Engineer is responsible for managing and establishing internal NDT and Calibration quality processes and systems and managing the quality audits. You will oversee the NDT and Calibration Program and establish techniques and procedures and interpret Codes & Standards. This position will touch all aspects of manufacturing and the Site in the development of key solutions to solve inspection issues, as well as the training and development of procedures and processes to continuously improve the business, enable the next generation manufacturing, and ensure compliance with all governing specifications, codes, and standards. Roles and Responsibilities
- Administer the Site’s Manufacturing NDT Program, responsible for NDT Level III duties to include processes, procedures, techniques, training, qualification, and certification.
- Experience in implementing or executing NDT processes, including Radiography (Computed and Digital), Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Visual, and Eddy Current, having a working knowledge of each technology and its strengths and limitations to ensure the proper inspection technique for the task.
- Ability to troubleshoot, provide technical leadership, and correct NDT processes while maintaining product and process flow
- Understand and interpret codes, standards, specifications, and Customer requirements related to NDT inspection to meet Manufacturing demands and compliance.
- Develop, administer, and train Apprentices in an NDT Program to develop a program to develop our own NDT Inspectors and liaison with County and State Representatives to ensure compliance of the Apprenticeship Program to South Carolina requirements.
- Act as site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and ensure Radiation Safety Program meets state requirements
- Develop and implement General Inspection Procedures (GIPs) and NDT method procedures and techniques.
- Train and mentor Level I and Level II technicians in current methods and new technology both on the Shop Floor and in the Classroom.
- Perform site assessments and leadership in audits
- Research and implement new Inspection techniques and technologies to improve current processes and support next generation manufacturing processes
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all Quality Assurance functions
- Direct and coordinate the overall quality specifications and standards for materials, processes, and finished products to meet customer purchase order requirements
- Ensure safe practices are used in compliance with all governmental regulations
- Identify, drive, mentor, and implement projects that improve overall production quality.
- Conduct training to quality processes as needed
- As Plant Metrologist will develop and maintain manufacturing calibration management system; train calibrators/calibration inspector.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 years of professional work experience)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Quality or comparable Technical role
Desired Characteristics
- Current ASNT NDT Level III certification in Radiography, Ultrasonics, Penetrant, Magnetic Particle. Prefer Eddy Current Level III certification as well.
- Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) experience.
- Level III in Eddy Current
- Experience with developing and administering an Apprenticeship Training Program
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science
- Knowledge of Manufacturing QMS as it pertains to NDT and Metrology
- Ability to drive change
- Knowledge of NADCAP and ISO
- Strong organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of various measurement processes and control methodologies for Gas Turbine components
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams in a matrix environment with all levels of personnel
- Strong working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality operations
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

- Develop and maintain CMM software; develop probes and tools for CMM use; train inspectors in the use and operation of CMM.

The salary range for this position is 100,400-150,000. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance variable incentive compensation.
