Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
Role Summary/Purpose
Under general supervision, sets up and operates one or more of the following machines: surface / Electrochemical grinder (ECG), lathe, mills, Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM), CNC machine, or other machines to perform diversified machining operation on blades, vanes, shrouds, and other components of turbine jet engines
Essential Responsibilities
- Works from process instruction sheets, drawings, and reference technical documents
- Uses general and specific knowledge of standard and specialized practices to perform work which meets all quality assurance standards of the product
- Uses scales, micrometers, venires calipers, dial indicators/surface plate, surface testers, etc. to measure work
- Ensures smooth product flow in the repair process
- Sets up, adjusts, verifies programming, and operates CNC machines to perform a complex series of machine operations on a diversified line of work
- Capable of holding close tolerances and surface finishes as required
- Sets up and operates CNC machines of differing types and brands
- Maintains work area housekeeping and assist in department/team housekeeping efforts
- Adheres to and follow all safety procedures, i.e., lock-out/tag-out report safety concerns, use appropriate PPE as required, and follow all safety practices
- Assists with training of new associates
Qualifications/Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum 18 months of CNC machining experience or 30 college credit hours in CNC operations from an accredited college/university
- Willing and able to work overtime and any shift
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak the English language: interpret and follow written procedures, i.e. AWI (Aviation Work Instructions), etc., complete documentation, i.e. routers, etc., and follow verbal instructions
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of measuring instruments, such as scales, micrometers, venires, calipers, dial indicators/ surface plates, surface testers, etc.
Desired Characteristics
- Associate’s degree in CNC Machining or 2-year certificate in CNC operations
- Proven experience and willingness to be self-directed and identify improvement processes
- Ability and willingness to work effectively with others in a team setting
- Follow and promote safe work practices
- Communicate effectively with others
