The Tool Room Coordinator will lead the daily activities of the tool room to meet customer needs for tooling, process improvements and machine capability. This role will report to the site Maintenance Leader and will have hourly/salary direct and dotted line resources. Standard work hours will be Monday-Friday, flexibility is required.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prioritize activities of tool room team based on process/tooling/machine/ergonomics
- Scope, plan, prototype and test new solutions by solving tooling, process and machine issues
- Utilize internal resources outside the team (process engineers, maintenance, lean, operations, quality, EHS & etc.) as needed
- Utilize external resources (OEM, consumable vendor, Lean Lab, Design Engineering & etc.) as needed
- Identify structure needed to meet organization requirements and related staffing
- Identify and procure tooling and consumables
- Identify and create a proposal for machinery and equipment needed to meet organizational goals and objectives
- Identify and facilitate training needs
- Effectively coach the team on the application of Flight Deck fundamentals
- Collaborate with other areas (tech support/maintenance/Flight Deck/etc.) to define work scope and priorities
- Tool management (storage, refurbish, modify, retire, & etc.)
- Special (Clarity) tooling and direct labor management
- Tool drawing approval with tool designer
- Special tooling drawing revision control
- Tool design best practices/template
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years (specific) experience minimum of 3 years Manufacturing & Projects and Initiatives experience
Desired Characteristics
- 2/4 year degree in machine tool technology or experience as a journeyman tool maker
- Ability to work in a fast pace, high intensity environment
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
- Effective problem-solving skills and knowledge of structured problem-solving processes
- GD&T knowledge and experience
- Knowledge and experience with CNC machine tools including, milling, grinding, turning, EDM and 3D printing
- Experience with CAD/CAM software
- Experience reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings, blueprints, CAD models, CAM paths
