Mid-Level Information Systems Security Engineer
📍 Dallas, TX 75247 (Hybrid – onsite 2-3 days/week)
We are seeking a passionate and collaborative Mid-Level Information Systems Security Engineer to join a growing security team supporting enterprise-wide cybersecurity operations and infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on protecting systems, networks, and sensitive data through the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of security technologies and processes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity and networking, experience administering enterprise security tools, and advanced knowledge of FortiGate firewalls. Personality and team fit are important, as this individual will join a close-knit 5-person security team that values communication, accountability, and a proactive mindset.
Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and support enterprise security tools and infrastructure
- Serve as a subject matter expert for FortiGate firewall technologies
- Perform vulnerability management, security monitoring, log analysis, and threat investigations
- Support incident response activities and assist with remediation efforts
- Conduct security scans, risk assessments, and penetration testing activities
- Develop and improve alerting, detection, and defensive security strategies
- Support implementation of security projects and operational initiatives
- Assist with maintaining compliance with security standards, policies, and best practices
- Collaborate with internal teams to strengthen overall security posture
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or network security
- Strong networking background with hands-on firewall administration experience
- Advanced experience with FortiGate firewalls
- Experience with vulnerability management and enterprise security operations
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate technical security concepts effectively to technical and non-technical teams
- Security certification required within 6 months of hire (CISSP strongly preferred)

Experience with tools and technologies such as:
- FortiGate
- Crossgate
- Zscaler
- Mimecast
- Rapid7
- NetSCOPE
- IDS/IPS
- SIEM platforms
- MFA, DLP, and EDR technologies
- Active Directory/GPO
- Windows and Linux systems
Additional Information
- Hybrid schedule with onsite presence required 2-3 days per week
- Participation in an on-call rotation is required
