Position Overview
Seeking a licensed Hawaii Commercial Electrician to provide maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, testing, and emergency support services at multiple Veterans Affairs healthcare facilities in Honolulu, Hawaii.
This is an on-call maintenance support position requiring routine weekly visits and emergency response capabilities.

- Parking Structure (PRKG) – Honolulu, HI
- Community Living Center (CLC) – Honolulu, HI
- E-Wing Facility (T1) – Honolulu, HI
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, equipment, circuits, and controls.
- Install, modify, repair, and test electrical systems and components.
- Perform inspections and electrical testing as required.
- Support generator and backup power systems.
- Perform high-voltage electrical work when required.
- Respond to emergency electrical service calls.
- Coordinate work with facility personnel and project representatives.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable safety requirements and electrical codes.
- Complete required documentation and service reports.
Schedule
- One scheduled 8-hour service day per week.
- Rotating weekly visits among four VA facilities.
- Emergency on-call support as needed.
- Approximately 480 labor hours annually.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active State of Hawaii Electrical Contractor License or employment with a licensed Hawaii electrical contractor.
- Journeyman Specialty Electrician (EJS) certification or equivalent.
- Experience performing commercial electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical distribution systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain access to federal facilities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hospitals, healthcare facilities, government facilities, or military installations.
- High-voltage electrical experience.
- Generator and emergency power system experience.
- Knowledge of NEC, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), ICRA, and Life Safety requirements.
Contractor Requirements
- Provide all labor, tools, testing equipment, supervision, and transportation.
- Maintain all required licenses and certifications throughout performance.
- Provide emergency response within two (2) hours of notification.
- Maintain a one-year workmanship warranty on all work performed.
Compensation
Hourly rate based on qualifications, licensing, experience, and emergency response capability.
