Network Engineer

Role Summary

GDH Inc. is seeking a versatile network engineer with expertise spanning network engineering, security, and cybersecurity. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the security posture of carrier networks and internal systems while supporting daily network operations, service delivery, and strategic projects. The ideal candidate works effectively in a small, hands-on team environment, handling tasks that range from routing and switching to firewall management and automation scripting.

Responsibilities

• Provision, test, and support carrier Ethernet and IP/MPLS services, including circuit turn-up, configuration changes, and outage recovery.
• Support and troubleshoot Ciena-based transport and packet platforms across the network.
• Collaborate with the Network Operations Center on escalations, root cause analysis, and service restoration to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain comprehensive network documentation, diagrams, and IP address management.
• Administer firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, and network segmentation to secure the carrier and corporate environments.
• Harden network devices through AAA (TACACS /RADIUS), role-based access, and secure management protocols.
• Perform vulnerability scans, patch management, and lifecycle updates on network infrastructure.
• Monitor, analyze, and respond to security events using SIEM tools, supporting incident response and remediation efforts.
• Conduct security assessments, support compliance activities, and contribute to organizational security policies and awareness.
• Support or lead cross-functional projects related to network upgrades, migration, new service deployment, and vendor evaluations.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• 3 years of hands-on network engineering experience for Engineer II, or 5 years for Engineer III.
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, and SR-MPLS.
• Experience managing firewalls, VPNs, and network access controls.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity operations such as log analysis, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Linux administration experience (RHEL/Rocky, Debian/Ubuntu or similar).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash, with API familiarity.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and clear documentation practices.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a variety of stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications or progress toward certifications like CCNP, Security , CySA , RHCSA, JNCIS, or CISSP.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 – $60.00 Hourly

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
