QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a Science related field
- 2 years experience working in a laboratory
- Knowledge of ASTM and API testing procedures, specifications and reporting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Robotic Operation
- Some mechanical and/or construction ability
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Quality Tech Specialist will assist the Plant Chemist, Physical Tester, and fill in for the Quality Control Technician (QCT) as needed. The Quality Tech Specialist will also work on other projects throughout the plant as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fill in for Plant Chemist, QCTs, and Physical Testers during absences (scheduled PTOs, sick leave, personal holidays, etc.) as assigned by the QC Manager or designee
- Proficient in the following: QCT duties, Insoluble Residues, Fused Bead (glass) preparation, Microscopy preparation, Exploration sample preparation and documentation
- Support Prolab system operations and automation areas as required
- Perform calculations, provide documentation and communicate data
- Work on miscellaneous projects as assigned by the QC Manager
- Assist with Raw and Process Materials management
- Assist Quarry with Carlson Mining Software
- Assist Plant Chemist and QC Manager with all Continuous Improvement and 5S projects and documentation
- Maintain and update SOPs and Work Instructions as needed
- Assist with SAP Production Confirmations
- Advise supervisor (Plant Chemist, QC Manager, or CRL) of unusual test results that don’t meet specifications
- Promote a safe working environment, and adhere to safety policies and procedures
