Position Summary
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing for GBS and its subsidiaries, while also supporting benefits administration, compliance, and HR projects. This role manages payroll, benefits programs, and reporting, as well as assisting with 401(k), profit sharing, and ESOP administration.

Duties/Responsibilities:
· Process weekly payroll, including bonuses, commissions, and special pay, for all employees across 5 entities, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
· Maintain payroll data: deductions, garnishments, vacation/sick time, and benefit changes.
· Administer benefits enrollment, terminations, audits, 401(k), profit sharing, and duties.
· Track and manage FMLA, Short-Term Disability, and leave of absence programs.
· Process and handle all unemployment claims in coordination with the state unemployment agency.
· Respond to employment verification requests from external agencies, financial institutions, or prospective employers.
· Process and maintain worker’s compensation claims, coordinating with insurance carriers.
· Reconcile and pay invoices related to HR services, including benefit administration, training, and other HR-related expenses.
· Support various HR projects such as employee surveys, training programs, and policy updates.
· Assist with the implementation of new HR initiatives and systems as needed.
· Assist with payroll tax administration by coordinating with third-party tax vendors to resolve tax issues, research tax fallouts, and ensure timely compliance.
· Manage payroll tax account setup, maintenance, and updates for federal, state, and local tax agencies.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Previous experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
· Knowledge of HR Processes, FMLA, unemployment claims, and workers’ compensation.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Education:
· Highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent
· Associates Degree in HR or related business field is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Pay: $42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
