Job Summary:
The Purchasing Supervisor oversees daily procurement activities, ensuring that materials, supplies, and services are acquired at the best possible price, quality, and delivery standards. This role involves supervising purchasing staff, developing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and maintaining accurate records to support efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the purchasing team to meet organizational procurement goals.
- Monitor and resolve Past Due Purchase Orders and Material Shortages
- Monitor purchase requisitions and ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
- Support Material Cost Reduction
- Evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery timelines; develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Review and negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
- Resolve issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing with suppliers.
- Work closely with internal departments (production, finance, logistics, etc.) to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.
- Prepare and analyze procurement reports, budgets, and KPIs.
- Train and mentor purchasing staff to improve performance and ensure best practices.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 3–5 years in purchasing or procurement roles, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- Certifications (preferred): CPSM, CPIM, APICS or other relevant procurement certifications.
