Safety Representative (Contract)

Loss Control Consultants perform workers comp inspections and prepare reports for insurance underwriting purposes. We contract to insurance companies who use the reports to properly insure workers compensation exposure for a new policy or renewal of a current policy. High-quality, accurate loss control surveys guide the underwriter in the selection of profitable business and assist the insured in controlling losses through the demonstrated value of the loss control services provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safety assessments of client facilities to identify potential loss exposures
- Prepare photo-illustrated digital reports for underwriters.
- Provide consultation services as assigned.
- Problem-solve client compliance challenges, including but not limited to determination of the problem; solution development; solution implementation and other services requiring professional judgement.
- Assist the client to better understand what is driving the frequency and severity of workers’ compensation claims.
- Travel to client facilities to conduct safety assessments as assigned. Service areas include Ventura down through Orange County into the Inland Empire.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3-5 years of field experience with a major carrier or working as an independent contractor providing loss control services
- Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA regulations and workers compensation insurance
- Assessing workers compensation exposure for regulatory compliance and safety
- Conducting loss analysis involving identification of trends, root cause and appropriate corrective action
- Providing risk improvement services including training, consulting, hazard analysis and regulatory assessments
- Communication skills, including writing ability, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple sites
- Professional certifications including ARM, CSP, OHST, ALCM are preferred, but not required
Compensation
- This is an hourly contract position
- Starting rates are $30-$50/hr based on experience
- Travel time is included in billable hours
