Linen Distribution Attendant/Per diem

SUMMARY:

The Linen Distribution Attendant is responsible for receiving, organizing, distributing, and maintaining adequate supplies of clean linen throughout the facility. This role ensures that departments have the necessary linens to support daily operations while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and inventory accuracy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

LinenDistribution

• Distribute clean linens to designated departments in accordance with established schedules and departmental requests.
• Collect and transport soiled linens to the laundry area or designated pickup locations.
• Stock and organize linen carts, shelves, and storage areas to ensure adequate supply levels are maintained.
• Maintain organized linen storage and support accurate inventory management.
• Monitor linen inventory and report shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of linen storage rooms and distribution areas.
• Respond promptly to urgent or special linen requests.
• Assist with receiving linen deliveries and verify quantities against packing slips.
• Maintain records of linen distribution and usage as required.
• Collaborate with housekeeping, nursing, and other departments to ensure linen needs are consistently met.

Infection Prevention and Control

• Follow strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of bacteria, viruses, and hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).
• Use hospital-approved disinfectants and proper cleaning techniques to eliminate harmful microorganisms.
• Properly handle soiled linens, biohazardous waste, and bodily fluids to prevent contamination.
• Adhere to hand hygiene and personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols for personal and patient safety.

Waste Management and Environmental Sustainability

• Properly dispose of bulk general waste, biohazardous materials, pharmaceutical waste, and sharps (needles, scalpels, etc.) following OSHA, EPA, and hospital regulations.
• Ensure waste bins are securely closed, labeled correctly, and emptied regularly to minimize hazards.
• Promote eco-friendly waste management by participating in hospital recycling and sustainability initiatives.

Monitor and report any waste handling issues or environmental risks to team leader or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS :

• High school diploma, or general education degree (GED) and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• If required to operate hospital vehicles, valid driver's license required.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 30_50 pounds.

HOURS :

Per diem/EOW/Every other holiday and 1 day throughout the week.
