Position Overview:
The Trust Administration Legal Assistant will support attorneys and fiduciaries with all aspects of post-death trust administration. The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines with accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with the administration of trusts, including gathering and organizing asset information, drafting correspondence, and preparing required documents.
- Prepare and file legal documents, such as notices to beneficiaries, trust certifications, and preliminary and final trust accountings.
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and government agencies regarding asset valuations, title transfers, and related administrative matters.
- Coordinate with CPAs and financial advisors to facilitate trust funding and tax compliance.
- Manage deadlines for critical trust administration milestones, including tax filings and distribution timelines.
- Maintain organized files and case management systems in accordance with firm protocols and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a law firm, preferably in estate planning and trust administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel preferred.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow.
- Paralegal certificate preferred but not required.
