JOB TITLE: Counselor (Individual and Group)
REPORTS TO: Program Director
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The substance abuse Counselor will provide individual (1 on 1) and group (4 on 1) counseling services to clients struggling with substance use disorders. In this role, you will offer education and guidance on public health concerns related to addiction, helping clients develop coping strategies and achieve recovery goals. You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive environment within the facility, ensuring the well-being of residents while providing compassionate direction and understanding.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to support clients in overcoming substance use disorders.
Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to clients' needs, goals, and progress.
Educate clients on public health concerns related to addiction, relapse prevention, and coping strategies.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate client care and ensure comprehensive support services.
Monitor and uphold facility safety protocols to create a secure and supportive environment for residents.
Provide crisis intervention, guidance, and emotional support to clients as needed.
Stay informed on best practices, trends, and regulations in substance abuse counseling and public health.
REQUIREMENTS:
Two years’ experience in health and human service-related field, preferably working with co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor preferred.
Must possess a valid MA driver’s license.
Must be able to pass MA CORI and Drug Testing requirements
Demonstrated understanding of, and committed to adhering to, federal and state policies (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA)
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, & boundaries.
Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
Candidates with lived expertise are encouraged to apply, if in recovery, must have two years of continuous sobriety
Personal characteristics of understanding, dedication, empathy and genuineness are essential.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Certification or progress toward LADC I or II certification is preferred but not required.
Familiarity with 12-Step programs and their application in recovery.
Understanding of confidentiality laws and ethical guidelines in counseling.
SCHEDULE: Onsite, MONDAY & TUESDAY (5:30pm-8:30pm)
