Gator Dredging - Dredge Mechanic - Engineer

Immediate Position available for a Dredge Mechanic - Engineer. This is a great opportunity for an experienced dredge mechanic to join our growing team! Excellent benefits, vacation, sick and holiday paid time off. You must have at least 5 to 7 years of experience in the field of dredging, working as a dredge mechanic.

Responsibilities for The Dredge Mechanic - Engineer:

  • Repairing and maintaining a hydraulic - suction cutterhead dredge
  • Must be mechanically inclined with good organizational skills. The dredge mechanic will oversee daily maintenance of the dredge as well as inventory of dredge tools and supplies. Should have a basic knowledge of diesel and gasoline internal combustion engines and some electrical knowledge and theory is a plus. Must be able to trouble shoot, mechanical, electrical, pneumatics and hydraulic driven devices and related components.
  • The Dredge Mechanic will be required to monitor and document temperature, fluid levels and all related operating parameters as pertains to the dredge.
  • The Dredge Mechanic will be working hand in hand with the dredge operator and management to ensure the dredge is being maintained. Documentation of work orders and PM hour intervals to be completed.
  • Have the ability to communicate well with the superintendent, dredge operator boat operators, and deck hands.
  • Completion of Daily Maintenance Logs.
  • Must be familiar with De-gasser pumps and booster pumps.
  • Job duties include working in and around the water.
  • MUST be motivated and able to work independently.
  • Assist in Mobilizations/Demobilizations as needed
  • Position will include some miscellaneous laborer.
  • Position will require out of town (Florida) travel for extended periods.

Requirements for The Dredge Mechanic - Engineer:

  • You must have at least 5 to 7 years of experience in the field of dredging, working as a dredge mechanic.
  • Must be safety conscious and adhere to company safety policy. Must wear the appropriate PPE as required.
  • The position consists of working up to 8- 12 hours a day. However, must be able to work a modified work schedule deemed necessary depending on the project. Could also include working weekends.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's license.
  • This is a full-time position for this project with ability to stay on after project is completed based on performance and job availability.
  • Heavy equipment experience a plus.
  • OSHA Certifications a plus
  • Boating or Equipment Certifications a plus
  • Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet) required.
  • Be honest, hardworking, reliable, punctual and attitude to get the job done.

Physical Demands/Work Environment for The Dredge Mechanic - Engineer:

  • Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will use sit, use hands, talk/hear; Frequently will reach with hands; Occasionally will stand, walk, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste/smell.
  • Lift and/or Move Functions: Regularly will lift up to 10 pounds; Frequently will lift up to 25 pounds; Occasionally will lift up to 50 pounds.
