The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer (Data Pipelines) to own the flow, transformation, and quality of data within Gather Health’s next-generation data platform. You’ll design and maintain all batch and streaming pipelines using Dagster and dbt, transforming raw data into high-quality, analytics-ready assets.
This is a critical build role — you will lead the implementation of The Tuva Project clinical data models, design robust Bronze ? Silver ? Gold transformations, and ensure that every dataset in our platform is accurate, fresh, and reliable.

The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer (Data Pipelines) to own the flow, transformation, and quality of data within Gather Health’s next-generation data platform. You’ll design and maintain all batch and streaming pipelines using Dagster and dbt, transforming raw data into high-quality, analytics-ready assets.
This is a critical build role — you will lead the implementation of The Tuva Project clinical data models, design robust Bronze ? Silver ? Gold transformations, and ensure that every dataset in our platform is accurate, fresh, and reliable.
What You’ll Do
- Build & Orchestrate Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines using Dagster and dbt across ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
- Transform & Model Data: Own the Bronze ? Silver mapping models, writing modular, production-grade dbt code and tests.
- Implement The Tuva Project: Serve as Gather’s in-house expert on The Tuva Project, adapting its models to our schema and ensuring alignment with clinical data standards.
- Ensure Data Quality: Implement robust data validation and testing frameworks in dbt and Dagster to guarantee data integrity.
- Integrate Data Sources: Collaborate with the Infrastructure Engineer to onboard and maintain source data (AthenaOne, HubSpot, CCIQ, Telephony).
- Define Data Contracts: Establish and maintain schema stability between ingestion and transformation layers.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with the Lead Engineer and stakeholders (Clinical, Ops, Product) to deliver trustworthy, actionable data.
- 5–8 years of hands-on experience in data engineering with a modern cloud warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Deep experience with dbt (modeling, testing, deployment).
- Deep experience with a modern orchestration tool (Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect preferred). Experience with asset-centric pipelines is a strong plus.
- Experience with healthcare data (EHR, claims) and The Tuva Project or similar (OMOP) strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of data quality and testing frameworks.
- Own all pipelines for a modern data platform built from scratch.
- Work with dbt, Dagster, and BigQuery in a cloud-native environment.
