Job Description
Title of Position: Mental Health Social Worker Location: Main Hospital Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Union/ Non-Union: Union Supervisor: Director of Psychology and Social Services
Summary Of Position
Primary responsibilities of the Mental Health Social Worker (MHSW) on the adult/adolescent inpatient units are the ability to complete a comprehensive psychosocial assessment, execute appropriate discharge planning, and to provide individual, family and group therapies. The MHSW plays a critical role as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, ensuring that patient care is trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally responsive. This position requires advanced clinical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient advocacy and community reintegration.
Bilingual Spanish-speaking candidates are eligible to receive an additional $1.25/hr in addition to their hourly pay.

Essential Duties
- Working knowledge of mental status examinations and current diagnostic manual.
- Knowledge of psychiatric mental health theories and practices.
- Individual and group treatment with clients who present a variety of psychopathologies.
- Ability to function as primary therapist and member of multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Ability to accurately observe and document treatment sessions.
- Knowledge and understanding of human relationships.
- Ability to work and relate effectively with visitors, police, and community members.
- Ability to accurately assess statements and behaviors of clients for evidence of antisocial behavior.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish, both verbally and in writing.
- Performs other additional tasks as directed.
Salary : $34 - $35
