What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Softener & Filtration Installer position at Gateway Water Systems?
About the Role
Gateway Water Systems is a local water filtration company serving the St. Louis area. We install whole-home water softeners and reverse osmosis drinking water systems for homeowners. We're looking for a skilled, dependable installer who's comfortable with basic plumbing and wants steady, well-paid work.
This starts as contract/part-time work—typically 1–3 installs per week—with the potential to grow into a full-time W2 position as our volume increases. We're actively investing in our business and building our customer base, and we'd like to find a reliable installer to grow alongside us. Before installs, you will be picking up the water system for that install from our unit in Creve Coeur.
What You'd Be Doing
- Installing 10x54 whole-home water softener / filtration systems
- Installing under-sink 5-stage reverse osmosis systems (and occasionally tankless models)
- Basic plumbing tie-ins, testing, and cleanup
- Providing friendly, professional service to homeowners
- Optional: helping earn Google reviews after the job—we pay extra for these
What We're Looking For
- Must be a fully licensed plumber, able to pull your own permits and perform all work in compliance with St. Louis City and County code. You're responsible for your own licensing, bonding, insurance, and permitting—we handle the systems, scheduling, and customers, not the plumbing side.
- Your own tools and reliable transportation (a company vehicle may become available down the road)
- Availability to take jobs with 48–72 hours' notice
- Someone who shows up on time, does clean work, and takes pride in the details
- Good rapport with homeowners—you'll be representing us in their home
What You Get
- Competitive per-install pay ($300–$750)
- All systems and equipment provided (tools not included)
- A flexible schedule—we work around yours
- Consistent work with room to grow
- A clear path to a full-time W2 position as the business expands
- The chance to get in early with a company that values doing right by its people

- Flexible schedule
