CATEGORY MANAGER OF CONVENIENCE STORES – JOB DESCRIPTION
Category Manager of Convenience Stores Responsibilities:
The Category Manager of Convenience Stores is responsible for the selection of products for the grocery, beverage and tobacco lines as well as inventory management, gross margin performance, merchandising and store layout design. The Category Manager of Convenience Stores supports the stores as a subject matter expert on product offerings and maintains strong relationships with vendors to deliver a competitive advantage for the company. The Category Manager of Convenience Stores will work closely with suppliers and operation teams to develop and execute effective category strategies that meet the needs of the target market and align with Luke Family of Brands overall objectives. The Category Manager of Convenience Stores will report directly to the Director of Category Management.

Category Manager of Convenience Stores duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement category strategies tailored to the convenience store market while considering customer preferences, market trends and competitive dynamics
- Analyze sales data, customer insights, and market research to identify opportunities for assortment optimization, pricing adjustments and promotional initiatives
- Work closely with marketing and merchandising teams to develop and execute promotional campaigns, season promotions and in-store displays to drive traffic and increase sales
- Monitor inventory levels, product turnover and sales performance to optimize assortment mix, minimize out-of-stock and reduce excess inventory
- Plan and communicate promotional calendars and timely ordering of materials for all stores
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance category performance, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Collaborate with operation teams, supply chain, and finance to ensure effective inventory management, cost control and budget adherence
- Submit all retail, cost and items changes to the Pricebook Specialist
Experience/Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of convenience store operations, customer behavior and market dynamics
- Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and operation teams.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, drive results and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills
Preferred skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field
- Experience in managing vendors, customer relationship, merchandising and store layout design
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Certification in category management or retail merchandising
Hours:
The Category Manager of Convenience Stores is a full time position and works a minimum of 40 hours per week
