Gateway STEM Academy, a K–8 charter school dedicated to preparing students for success in STEM fields, is seeking a Elementary Teacher (K–5) to join our team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters academic growth, curiosity, and a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills.
Position Overview
As an Elementary Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction that meets the diverse needs of learners in grades K–5. You will create a positive classroom culture, implement research-based instructional practices, and collaborate with colleagues and families to support student success.
This is a full-time position during the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support students’ academic and social-emotional development.
- Deliver high-quality literacy and mathematics instruction using research-based instructional strategies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including English Learners and students requiring additional academic support.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, responsibility, and a sense of community.
- Monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instructional decisions.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, support staff, and specialists to align instruction and interventions.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and ways to support learning at home.
- Implement classroom management practices aligned with school-wide expectations.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives to support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education (or eligibility for licensure)
Preferred:
- Experience teaching in an elementary classroom (K–5)
- Strong understanding of literacy and mathematics instruction
- Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and equitable instructional practices
- Ability to use student data to guide instruction and improve outcomes
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
