GMS Head Cook (PM)

Gateway School District is seeking a Head Cook for Gateway Middle School.

This is one of two Head Cooks for Gateway Middle School, and works the PM Shift: 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM. The position follows the GSD Student Calendar, including weekends, holidays, and the summer break. There are opportunities to work over the summer break, should the employee chose to do so.

District Required Clearances

• Act 34 PA State Criminal History
• Act 114 Federal Criminal History (FBI Fingerprinting. Use service code 1KG6XN when scheduling an appointment)
• Act 151 PA State Child Abuse History
• A TB Test no more than three months old

Any offer of employment is contingent upon the submission of the above required clearances. If you are unable to upload them to Red Rover at the time of application, we recommend you bring them with you if you are invited to interview.

Position Specific Certifications

• ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification
• A food production and leadership qualification exam as defined by management

Position Summary

In coordination with the other GMS Head Cook and GMS Assistant Cooks, this position is responsible for successfully preparing Breakfast and Lunch Meal Service, as well as scheduled catering events. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Adhering to the Standardized Recipes and applicable "prep/pull" sheets
• Using portion control techniques
• Using quality control techniques, such as batch cooking
• Proper storage of all prepared food items
• Monitoring the proper adherence to all Food Safety Protocols as set forth by the District's HACCP-based Food Safety proram
• The appropriate operation and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment as set forth by the manufacturer and/or Gateway school District
• Any other duties as assigned by Management or the Gateway School District Board of Directors
