What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian Worker position at GATEWAY SCHOOL DISTRICT?
Custodians at the Gateway School District are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of all assigned and/or scheduled areas as determined by the Supervisor of Facilities & Operations. These may include, but are not limited to: classrooms, hallways, stairwells, cafeteria, auditorium, kitchen, school grounds, and all other rooms and/or areas as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Graduation from high school or GED
· Must have the ability to perform the skills of the responsibilities listed below
· Clearances--Current Child Abuse (Act 151), FBI (Act 114) and Criminal Record (Act 34) required
SHIFT: 2:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M (Tuesday - Saturday)
PAY RATE: $21.27/hour for FY24-25, $21.91/hour for FY24-25
Essential Duties and Responsibility:
- Clean all assigned areas of responsibility such as: Hallways, Restroom facilities, Sports Complex, pool, etc.
- Sweep areas.
- Scrub areas.
- Vacuum areas.
- Wax areas.
- Dust areas.
- Clean tables, interior and exterior glass, blackboards, furniture, phone booths, drinking fountains, lockers and lavatory fixtures.
- Perform all summertime duties and responsibilities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Building Principal.

Education, Experience Commission and Clearances:
Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED); general custodial experience and knowledge; current child abuse (Act 151), FBI (Act 114) and criminal record (Act 34) clearances are required.

Regular exposure to cleaning and maintenance equipment, chemicals, and products is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth vision perception. Good hearing abilities required.
