Role Description The Gateway School District is looking for both a full-time, on-site Certified School Nurse and a School Social Worker. The Certified School Nurse is responsible for providing direct student health services, managing school health records, administering medications and treatments, conducting health screenings, and collaborating with families, educators, and healthcare providers to support student wellness and safety. The School Social Worker is responsible for providing school-based social work services, including individual and group support, crisis intervention, case management, and coordination with community agencies to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Both roles will participate in multidisciplinary teams, contribute to educational planning, maintain accurate documentation, and support a safe and supportive school climate. Successful hires are expected to communicate regularly with caregivers and staff, follow district policies and state regulations, and participate in professional development.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in School Nursing and School Health, including student health assessment, care planning, and health education.
- Strong foundation in Nursing and Medicine relevant to a school setting, with the ability to respond to emergencies and manage chronic conditions.
- Knowledge and experience in Pediatrics, including developmentally appropriate care and communication with children and adolescents.
- For School Nurse: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania and appropriate school nurse certification or eligibility, as required by state regulations.
- For Social Worker: Master’s degree in social work or related field and Pennsylvania licensure/certification as applicable (e.g., LSW, LCSW, or school social worker credential).
- Experience working in K–12 educational settings or with school-age youth, preferably in diverse school communities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with students, families, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, accurate records, and compliance with federal, state, and district policies (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA where applicable).
