Gateway Rehab Center (GRC) is seeking a Recreational Support Technician to bring energy, creativity, and compassion to our inpatient team located in Center Township, PA.

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating patient activities. Our Technician will develop and lead engaging therapeutic activities that empower clients to build confidence, develop coping skills, and rediscover joy in everyday life.

Responsibilities

• Develops, coordinates, and implements therapeutic and recreational activities programming, both onsite at GRC’s main campus and at offsite locations as needed.
• Supervises patient recreational activities; and if not personally on site, assures that all activities are properly supervised by a staff person.
• Develops, coordinates, and implements 12 step fellowship meeting schedules, both onsite and offsite.
• Implements evidence-based practices utilized in Gateway’s continuum of services in therapeutic recreational activities.
• Acts as a member of the treatment team to provide support for therapists and other technicians by engaging patients in therapeutic activities that support their treatment goals.
• Assures the safety of patients, including crisis intervention.
• Document recovery activity groups in Aura as required by DDAP standards.
• Transports patients as needed.
• Provides coverage for the counselor technicians as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Attends GRC mandatory trainings and in-services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of age specific growth and development.

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Requirements

• Post-high school education.
• Understanding of 12 step recovery programs and the recovery process.
• Experience conducting therapeutic activities.
• Two years’ experience working with adults.

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with favorable driving record.
• Obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Pass PA Criminal Background Check
• Obtain PA Childline and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances.
• Pass Drug Screen.
• 2-Step TB Test.

Work Conditions

• This position requires mandatory staffing coverage when necessary to provide a safe treatment environment for Gateway residents.
• Flexibility regarding work schedule.
• Favorable working conditions may include some exposure to inclement weather during outdoor recreational activities.
• Moderate physical demands.
• Mental demands include those involved in working with adolescents and the creation of a safe environment.
