Gateway Regional School District is seeking a 9-12 Social Studies Teacher at Gateway Regional School
Qualified Candidates Must:
●Have a MA 9-12 Social StudiesTeaching License (August 25, 2026) Required
●Have a Bachelor’s Degree
●Have experience teaching in a high school setting (preferred)
●Have strong written and verbal communication skills
●Hold an unwavering belief that every student can grow and succeed
Professional Responsibilities Include:
●Teach social studies courses at the high school level, primarily World History and U.S. History I, with a focus on building historical thinking skills, critical analysis, civic engagement, and evidence-based reasoning. There may also be opportunities to teach additional social studies electives based on school needs and candidate interest.
●Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that meet the diverse learning needs of all students while promoting inquiry, discussion, and connections between historical events and contemporary issues.
●Use a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction, primary and secondary source analysis, project-based learning, and collaborative activities to support a range of learners.
●Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, including writing, discussion, document-based questions, projects, and presentations, and use data to inform instruction and provide targeted support.
●Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement, respectful discourse, accountability, and appreciation for diverse perspectives.
●Provide extra help and academic support to students as needed, including during designated support periods or after school.
●Collaborate with other social studies teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student success and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
●Participate in team meetings, data meetings, and curriculum development work within the department and across content areas.
●Communicate regularly and effectively with families regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.
●Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
●Integrate technology and digital resources effectively to enhance instruction, research skills, historical inquiry, and student learning.
●Participate in assigned duties per the contract.
●Attend staff meetings, professional development, required training, and other meetings during the course of the school year.
●Engage in ongoing professional growth and reflective practice, particularly around culturally responsive teaching, historical literacy, and civic education.
●Support school-wide initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture.
●Perform other duties as requested by administration.
Rate of pay: $52,803-$91,482, dependent upon education and experience.
