- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to process sales, returns, and exchanges
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly and assisting with product questions
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision and confidence, ensuring proper cash handling procedures
- Upsell products and promote store promotions or special offers to enhance sales opportunities
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, restocking supplies as needed
- Support merchandising efforts by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring products are well-presented
- Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about new or featured items
Requirements
- Previous cashiering experience in a retail or grocery store environment is preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in bilingual settings if applicable
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions accurately and balancing registers at shift end
- Knowledge of POS systems and retail math concepts is highly desirable
- Excellent phone etiquette for answering inquiries professionally over the phone
- Supervising experience is a plus for those interested in growth opportunities within the team
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and work flexible hours as needed
