What are the responsibilities and job description for the WIC Nutritionist position at Gateway Community Action Partnership?
Job Title: Program Nutritionist
Location: Atlantic and Cumberland County
Job Functions:
The program nutritionist will be responsible for
- Determining participants’ nutritional risk and needs,
- will prescribe supplemental food and provide individual/group counseling to WIC program participants.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training and other professional and staff development activities.
- Supervises clinic operations including but not limited to high risk counseling; development of lesson plans and special activities.
- Assists in organizing and maintaining of general nutrition education materials and displays in the WIC clinics such as bulletin boards, pamphlets, food displays, etc.
- Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment with multi-cultural, and multi-lingual clientele and /staff. Travel within Gateway CAP service area is required.
- Applicants must work well independently, and with the team. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Education requirements: BS in Foods and Nutrition, Community Nutrition or Dietetics.
Experience:
- One year, but will accept less experience if the candidate is promising.
- Spanish speaking abilities - a plus!
Salary: Competitive, with excellent benefits. 37.5 hours work week.
