GATEWAY COLLEGE AND CAREER ACADEMY SCOPE OF WORK –INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT GCCA MISSION STATEMENT: GCCA will provide all learners with personal and academic success through equitable practices and individualized plans leading to a high school diploma and access to college and career pathways. JOB DESCRIPTION Under general supervision assists certificated teachers in the supervision and instruction of students; relieves the teacher of routine clerical duties; assists students with special and language development needs; and does related work as assigned. RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal GENERAL DEFINITION Works with students individually and in small groups, assisting with specific instructional or learning tasks. Helps students master assigned subject matter. Assists students by interpreting classroom assignments. Reads to students and listens to students read. Assists pupils with use of audio-visual equipment. Applies student management techniques. Assists teacher with contacting parents. Sets up work areas and prepare materials for class use. Prepares charts, flash cards, work sheets, art materials, bulletin boards and similar instructional materials. Assists in maintaining a neat and orderly environment. May assist with routine clerical duties directly related to classroom work. Maintains routine information and operational records. Keeps anecdotal notes and maintains student files. Prepares reports of work completed and materials used. Operates office machines and devices. Attends and participates in planning and evaluating sessions. Other related duties may be assigned.
