What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gateway Academy Special Education Paraeducator (Behavior Support) - 25/26 SY position at GATEWAY ACADEMY?
Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking student-focused, dedicated Paraeducators to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in classrooms with Career Readiness studentsfor the 2025-2026 School Year.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
- Assists with evaluating and testing students
- Works with small groups of students in various subject areas
- Follows established procedures for monitoring student behavior when supervising small or large groups
- Monitors students whereabouts and observe student safety
- Performs routine clerical duties such as copying, typing, answering/making telephone calls, and basic troubleshooting
- Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (185 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees.
