Job Overview
Gateway Academy, a premier private Christian school in Miramar Beach, seeks a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and will be adept at engaging students with special learning needs. Our program enhances student success by providing low teacher-to-student ratios, using multisensory learning approaches, and offering project-based learning opportunities. Candidates should be enthusiastic about teaching, be creative in the classroom, and hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education (Special Education preferred). The Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that align with curriculum standards in our Learning IE (student special needs) program. Qualifications
- Demonstrating conservative Christian values and following our school code of conduct
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Certification in Special Education or a related educational field
- Experience working with students with special needs
- Effective interpersonal skills in interacting with students, teachers, administrators, and parents
- Ability to work collaboratively with a large, diverse team
- Experience working with behavior management techniques for students with high-functioning autism and learning special needs
Responsibilities
- Provides resource small group support as needed.
- Provides an alternative or parallel teaching to a group of students and provides 1:1 teaching, as needed.
- Employs multi-sensory teaching strategies and specialized instruction as needed based on student’s progress goals and specific learning needs.
- Implements all modifications and accommodations for the classroom and in testing.
- Creates learning accommodation plans in collaboration with general ed teachers and administration to ensure services are being delivered at a high level for Learning IE enrolled students.
- Implements differentiated instructional strategies to ensure all assigned students can access and learn the FL Best standards.
- Provides individualized support to students with special needs in the classroom
- Uses data to responsively teach to mastery of academic skills.
- Tracks student performance and progress and is responsible for continual improvement in student growth objectives.
- Collaborates with general education staff to develop and implement effective instructional strategies
- Monitors student progress and provides feedback, adjusting support and instructional strategies as needed
- Fosters ongoing, positive communication between students, parents, and school staff
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
