We are seeking an experienced RC Driller to join our client's operations team in Nevada and support high-quality mineral exploration projects. The Driller will operate and maintain Reverse Circulation (RC) rigs to efficiently recover samples for resource definition, ensuring safety, productivity, and client-focused outcomes. This role is ideal for a professional experienced in U.S. mineral exploration campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary Duties (≈85% of time):
- Operate RC drilling rigs for mineral exploration, managing hole advancement (typically 4–8 inch diameter) in various rock formations.
- Ensure consistent sample recovery, handling splitters, and maintaining sample integrity for geological analysis.
- Execute operational plans in coordination with project geologists and engineers.
- Maintain safety, productivity, and environmental best practices on-site.
- Identify anomalies or equipment issues and report promptly.
- Supportive Tasks (≈15% of time):
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and safety rounds (5%).
- Perform preventive maintenance: greasing, fluid changes, minor repairs (5%).
- Install and manage cyclone splitters or sample collection systems (5%).
- Communicate with crew regarding sample recovery, hole depth, and equipment status (5%).
Requirements
- Drilling certification or equivalent trade qualification.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in drilling, with significant RC drilling exposure in mineral exploration.
- Knowledge of typical mining exploration targets (gold, lithium, copper, etc.).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in remote locations, often for extended periods.
- Safety-conscious, with a proven record of compliance with mining and environmental standards.
Preferred:
- Experience with dual-tube RC systems and wireline-assisted recovery.
- Familiarity with U.S. mineral exploration regulatory requirements and MSHA safety standards.
- Knowledge of Nevada geology
