WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. This role can be based at one of our key U.S. operations hubs with travel across regional sites, you will be an Americas Regional Health Safety and Environmental Manager.

The Regional HSE Manager is a strategic, hands-on leader who partners with the Americas Vice President of Operations, Business Unit Directors, and site leadership to drive a world-class Health, Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability culture across a multi-site network. This high-visibility role has direct impact across manufacturing and distribution operations, leading HSE strategy, standardization, and risk reduction efforts to deliver measurable improvements in safety and sustainability performance.

Serving as a key connector between site teams and Corporate HSE, this role aligns priorities, drives consistency, and implements best practices across locations while influencing operational leadership at all levels.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):

· Advance global HSE standards, governance, and best practices as a member of the Global HSE Leadership Team.

· Lead the regional HSE audit and assurance program, driving corrective actions and sustained compliance across the Americas.

· Analyze HSE metrics, trends, and risk indicators to drive data-informed improvement strategies with business and site leadership. Ensure the initiatives are implemented through the Gates HSE Rail process by leading pulse calls with site leadership.

· Lead HSE risk assessments and Safety Kaizen initiatives, applying the hierarchy of controls to reduce risk and strengthen performance.

· Embed HSE accountability and risk reduction within the Gates Production System (GPS), leveraging continuous improvement principles to strengthen safety, environmental performance, and operational excellence.

· Provide leadership on incident investigations, root cause analysis, significant incidents, and crisis response.

· Serve as a strategic HSE advisor, ensuring compliance with U.S., Canadian, and Mexican regulatory requirements.

· Drive consistent implementation and continuous improvement of HSE management systems, aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

· Champion regional HSE and sustainability initiatives, ensuring effective execution, measurable results, and accountability.

· Lead HSE due diligence and integration for acquisitions and divestitures across the region.

· Align regional HSE teams to address systemic risks, shared opportunities, and performance priorities across sites and business units.

· Provide functional leadership to site HSE leaders, building capability, accountability, and consistent performance. Provide hands on training where necessary to site HSE leaders and HSE program SMEs to ensure adequate competencies are in place.

· Establish and reinforce clear HSE performance expectations and accountability, ensuring site and business leaders take ownership of compliance, corrective actions, risk reduction, and continuous improvement.

ABOUT YOU

· Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred

· 11 years of progressive HSE experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment

· Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHMM, or CIH preferred

· Ability to travel up to 50–70%

· Proven success developing and delivering HSE training and capability-building programs across manufacturing environments.

· Comprehensive knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.

· Strong technical expertise in incident investigation, root cause analysis, workers’ compensation, ergonomics, machine guarding (including ANSI & ISO standards), LOTO, electrical safety, PPE, HAZCOM, confined space, material handling, and emergency response.

· Strong knowledge of environmental compliance and sustainability, including air and water permitting, waste management, and environmental improvement initiatives.

· Demonstrated ability to drive HSE ownership and accountability, establish clear performance expectations, identify gaps, and ensure timely, sustainable corrective actions.

· Proven experience monitoring and auditing HSE performance, leveraging findings and performance trends to strengthen compliance and reduce operational risk.

· Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders to translate HSE strategy into measurable, results-driven initiatives aligned with business and operational objectives.

· Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and influencing capabilities, with the ability to engage and develop leaders across multiple levels, sites, and functions.

· Proven ability to drive cultural change and strengthen HSE engagement within complex, fast-paced manufacturing environments.

· Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, navigate changing business needs, and deliver against critical deadlines.

· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
