A CMV (Commercial Motor Vehicle) Tire Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, replacing, and maintaining tires on commercial vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, trailers and any other company vehicles. This role often involves some fleet maintenance.

The above tasks demand agility, the ability to maintain a crouching position to inspect and work on the underside of the vehicle, frequent entering and exiting of the cab, and the ability to climb ladders on the trucks/trailer(s). Forklift training will be issued if not already certified.

Technician Responsibilities:
- Tire Inspection and Repair: Identify tire damage, perform repairs, and determine when tires need replacement.
- Mounting and Dismounting: Dismount and mount tires on various rim types, including dual axles and super singles
- Fleet Maintenance: Conduct routine tire checks, rotations, and balancing on all fleet vehicles and trailers
- Tire Inventory: Build relationship with tire vendor and perform inventory and tire tracking system
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the proper functioning and report maintenance of shop equipment, including tire changing machines, tire gauges, and other tools to Shop Supervisor.
- Documentation: Complete work orders, log tire information, and maintain accurate records.
- Communication: Communicate with Shop Supervisor and other team members to provide efficient service.
Skills:
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of tire types, tire repair procedures, and rim structures.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose tire issues and implement appropriate solutions.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy tires and equipment.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
- Experience: Prior experience in commercial tire service or related fields is often preferred.
- Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Training: Stay up-to-date with industry standards and attend training as needed.
- High School Diploma or continued studies
- Some experience around diesel mechanics or shops.
- Knowledge of the correct and safe usage of electric and air tools
- Be effective in communication – handwritten and verbal.
- Some Computer skills are helpful.
- Dependable transportation to work.
Physical Demands
