Job Summary
The Endoscopy Technician plays a crucial role in assisting healthcare professionals during endoscopic procedures in the OR. This position involves preparing and maintaining endoscopic equipment, specimen collection, and cleaning/reprocessing equipment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable patient facing, be flexible and team oriented, and possess the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
Duties
- Prepare and maintain endoscopic equipment for procedures, ensuring all tools are functioning properly.
- Complete sterile processing of endoscopic equipment per sterile processing guidelines.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by providing necessary instruments, support, specimen collection, and documentation.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of procedures performed.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient care.
Skills
- Familiarity with medical terminology to effectively communicate within a clinical environment.
- Able to operate efficiently in a fast paced environment while being able to tolerate standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and healthcare staff. This position is essential for delivering high-quality care in the field of gastroenterology and requires a dedicated professional committed to patient safety and comfort.
