GAP is the longest established gastroenterology practice in the Piedmont Triad area. This independent, physician-owned GI practice is looking for a Hospital Procedure Scheduler in our GI Clinic. GAP evaluates new patients, performs consultations and conducts follow-up visits for chronic gastrointestinal conditions. Our offices draw and assess labs, administer injections and monitor medication therapies. We offer on-site infusion services and our clinical staff assist with a variety of in-office procedures. When appropriate, GAP schedules appointments for outpatient screening, diagnostic and/or treatment procedures. Our endoscopy centers are physician-owned outpatient ambulatory surgical centers which specialize in colon cancer screening and prevention as well as a number of other procedures including endoscopy, Interstim Bowel Control Therapy and Orbera gastric balloon weight loss therapy.

The Hospital Procedure Scheduler is responsible for scheduling patients for procedure appointments that require a hospital setting. Advises patients of surgical and financial preoperative requirements. May also coordinate and schedule appointments for procedures in the ambulatory surgical setting.
Requirements
- Schedules hospital procedure appointments for patients either by phone when they call in or in person after an office visit.
- Coordinate and schedule hospital procedures and follow-up appointments as designated by physicians according to established policies and procedures.
- Interact with patients, physicians and other staff within the clinic and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information.
- Answer and screen telephone calls in a courteous manner, and record messages for physician and other personnel.
- Obtain accurate information from patients and ensure all registration forms are complete.
- Provide information to patients regarding unpaid balances prior to procedure or surgery.
- Coordinate processes and timing as required to meet physician and facility requirements.
- Obtain authorization for procedure from patient’s insurance company.
- Provide patient with generic preoperative information sheets and advise patients of preoperative surgical and financial requirements.
- Uses computerized system to match provider availability with patient’s preferences in terms of date and time.
- Maintains scheduling system so records are accurate and complete and can be used to analyze patient/staffing patterns.
Skills/Qualifications: One year of medical appointment scheduling experience required. Previous experience with scheduling procedure or surgical appointments strongly preferred. Experience with EPIC preferred. Bilingual preferred.
