About the Role
We're looking for a Nurse Practitioner to join our GI team and help manage a growing patient panel across clinic visits, chronic disease management, and pre-/post-procedure care. You'll work closely with our physicians to deliver comprehensive gastroenterology care, from initial patient evaluation through ongoing management, in a collaborative office-based setting.
This role is a great fit for an NP who enjoys building long-term patient relationships, wants meaningful autonomy within a physician-collaborative model, and is comfortable with the pace of a busy specialty practice.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with a wide range of GI conditions (GERD, IBD, IBS, liver disease, celiac disease, pancreatic and biliary disorders, etc.)
- Conduct new patient consultations and follow-up visits under a collaborative practice agreement with supervising physician(s)
- Take detailed patient histories and perform relevant physical exams
- Order, review, and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies (e.g., H. pylori testing, liver panels, imaging referrals)
- Develop and manage treatment plans, including medication management and referrals for procedures
- Perform in-office procedures and testing (e.g., anoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, breath testing, esophageal/anorectal manometry, or similar, as applicable to scope and practice protocols)
- Provide pre-procedure evaluation and post-procedure follow-up for endoscopy/colonoscopy patients
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle/nutrition modifications
- Document thoroughly and accurately in the EHR in a timely manner
- Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and MAs to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity
- Respond to patient calls/messages regarding symptoms, medication questions, and test results
- Maintain compliance with practice policies, coding/documentation standards, and relevant state NP regulations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and practice meetings
What We're Looking For (Required)
- Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Ohio
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing (NP program)
- Current national NP certification (e.g., AANP or ANCC) in Family, Adult-Gerontology, or relevant specialty
- Current BLS certification
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain) for prescriptive authority
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and the care team
- Comfortable with EHR documentation and a fast-paced clinical schedule
- Reliable attendance and strong time management
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Prior experience in gastroenterology, internal medicine, or a related specialty
- Experience with endoscopy/colonoscopy pre- and post-procedure care
- Familiarity with GI-specific EHR systems (e.g., gGastro, Provation)
- Established collaborative practice experience with physician groups
- Bilingual capability
