What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD 3D Modeling Drafter position at Gaston & Wyatt?
About the Opportunity
Gaston & Wyatt has fabricated luxury custom architectural millwork since 1979, turning intricate architectural drawings into precise, buildable shop drawings for high-end residential projects nationwide. Our 65,000-square-foot Charlottesville shop depends on drafters who can translate design intent into details the shop floor can build from, and get it right the first time. As a 3D Modeler / Drafter, you’ll work directly with our engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams to turn architectural concepts into detailed, production-ready drawings.
What You’ll Do
- Produce timely, accurate shop drawings from architectural drawings, understanding how the shop builds what you draw
- Review design criteria and generate detailed 3D models for a range of project types and sizes
- Coordinate with the modeling/drafting team on approval and design documents, and generate detailed drawings for manufacturing
- Communicate directly with project managers and clients to verify solutions and field conditions
- Manage your own schedule and priorities to meet deadlines, solving problems independently in close coordination with your project team
