Public Outreach Specialist

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

• Organize and facilitate the participation of the Cathy Mabry Cloninger Center; A Domestic Violence Shelter at local events, fairs and community activities. Research current data for presentations to community groups, schools, partner agencies and faith community.
• Work collaboratively with local agencies and organizations to provide education and outreach services to trauma survivors pertaining to DV, Sexual Assault, human trafficking, and child abuse. Provide education to identified underserved or target populations experiencing trauma. Advance the voices of victims/survivors and prioritizing the needs/request of the Cathy Mabry Cloninger Center.
• Create engaging and relevant social media content related to domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault using strategic goals and measurable outcomes. Disseminate prevention and awareness materials to businesses, partner agencies and other services providers across Gaston County.
• Direct and oversee volunteer programs, organize donations, and assist with the acceptance and coordination of donations. Organize volunteer recognition events, schedule coverage of volunteers all relating to volunteering. Train interns and volunteers (former survivors to assist with presentations).
• Update and maintain relevant data regularly, complete administrative duties as assigned. Maintain supply of educational information, brochures, handouts, promotional items and maintain a log of facilities so that supplies can be refreshed. Remain knowledgeable about community resources.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's Degree in Arts, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Criminal Justice, Social Services or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience is required.

Additional Information

Minimally qualified applicants will start at 25% of the salary range: $24.95/hr

The applicant selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
