Role Description The Laborer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Gastonia, NC. This role supports paving and concrete crews with tasks such as preparing work sites, loading and unloading materials, and operating basic hand tools and small equipment under supervision. Daily responsibilities may include assisting with asphalt placement, shoveling and raking, helping set forms for concrete curb and gutter, cleaning and maintaining tools and vehicles, and following instructions from crew leaders. The Laborer is expected to follow all safety procedures, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and contribute to keeping job sites organized and efficient. This role requires reliable attendance, teamwork, and a willingness to learn paving and concrete techniques on the job.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of or interest in construction, asphalt paving, concrete work, and related tools and equipment; willingness to learn on the job.
- Strong attention to safety, including following directions, using personal protective equipment, and adhering to company and regulatory safety guidelines.
- Reliable work habits, including punctuality, consistent attendance, and the ability to work as part of a team under supervision.
- Effective communication skills to understand instructions, ask questions when needed, and coordinate tasks with crew members.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from job sites; ability to pass any required background or pre-employment screenings.
- Previous experience in construction, paving, concrete, or general labor is helpful but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates.
