What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Preparation Specialist position at GASTECH ENGINEERING LLC?
JOB SUMMARY: It is the responsibility of this position to perform all prep of pipe, vessel and structural assemblies required to complete process equipment. The purpose of the position is to assist with staging, prep/cleaning parts needed for final fit/weld assemblies. It is the goal of the position to help all departments meet their manufacturing delivery schedules and to further the mission to establish GasTech Manufacturing as the most highly respected process equipment group in the industry, and for the clients we serve.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Clean pipes, fittings, and flanges using a parts washer.
- Stage and organize parts and final spools for the next area.
- Fit up/assemble piping spools.
- Cut and prepare pipe/structural components using oils and lubricants.
- Keep lead and manager informed on status of parts, and any missing or damaged parts.
- Prepare equipment for shipping.
- Work in collaboration with Shipping and Receiving to load and unload material on/off trailers.
- Read drawings and P&IDs and prepare parts accordingly.
- Complete work on time and with a sense of urgency to ensure delivery schedules and deadlines are met.
- Maintain a proper and professional workspace to ensure a safe and presentable environment.
- Report to work on a timely and regular basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- The ability to demonstrate pipe and structural assembly proficiency in pressure piping and process vessel manufacturing is required.
- A proficient knowledge of Pipe, Fittings, Flanges, and Material Grades is preferred but not required.
- A proficient knowledge of valves, instruments, and equipment is preferred but not required.
- The ability to demonstrate accurate decision-making ability while maintaining a commitment to quality is required.
- A positive and cooperative attitude is required.
- The ability to work safely and to follow all safety protocols is required.
- The ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality is required.
- The ability to remain organized with a keen attention to detail in a fast-paced environment is required.
- The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines utilizing excellent time management skills is required.
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are required.
- A higher vocational welding background is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience with ASME/ANSI Piping Codes is preferred but not required.

- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification (company-provided training) to assist with material handling.
- Demonstrate strong cross-functional collaboration by working closely with various departments to stage, organize, and prep materials, ensuring all business units have the necessary components to meet production timelines.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
- This position is a manufacturing role with most of the work performed in our shop, which is a heavy construction and fabrication environment.
- Must be able to withstand at least 10 hours of standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, stoop, squat, and crawl into awkward spaces.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include natural or corrected close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must possess the ability to work in a team environment with regular and predictable attendance.
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to varying non-climate-controlled conditions, as this is a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance and to lift and move repetitively.
- Must be able to follow all safety protocols.
