Job Summary
Our client is looking for a Project Manager / Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Lead with a solid background in machinery safety, automation, and control systems. This role will take charge of coordinating activities across onsite and offshore engineering teams, ensuring all work complies with ANSI/OSHA and IEC/ISO standards. The successful candidate will oversee the installation, commissioning, and validation of machine safety systems, helping ensure that every process runs safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Support plant teams during process start-up, testing, and validation of machinery safety and guarding systems.
- Coordinate closely with onsite/offshore engineering teams, clients, and construction contractors to align project objectives and timelines.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards, ensuring full compliance with ANSI/OSHA and IEC/ISO machinery safety standards.
- Review and interpret panel engineering and I&C drawings, documents, and designs related to machine safety and guarding.
- Supervise and verify that installation and commissioning activities at site follow approved design drawings.
- Present technical data and project updates to clients to support informed decision-making.
- Communicate clearly in meetings, respond to technical questions, and represent engineering information effectively.
- Stay up to date with codes and standards relevant to FMCG plant design, including NEC requirements.
- Manage instrument selection for field devices, including systems used in hazardous areas. Participate in P&ID reviews, 3D model reviews, HAZOP, and SIL assessments.
- Work with PLC and safety control systems—designing architectures, specifying components, and integrating communication protocols such as FF, Profibus, and Modbus.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of machinery safety guarding, automation systems, and packaging equipment.
- Experience conducting machine risk assessments, identifying hazards, and applying mitigation measures for electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Skilled in designing machine safety circuits, developing elementary drawings, cable schedules, and bills of materials.
- Understanding of Performance Level calculations per ISO & 2.
- Proven background in installation and commissioning of machine guarding systems.
- Solid project management, communication, and vendor coordination skills.
- Expertise in panel engineering and instrumentation & control, including datasheets, I/O lists, loop and hookup drawings, control system architecture, and field instrument layouts.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical is an advantage.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills, including preparation and review of Material Requisitions, Purchase Requisitions, and Vendor Drawings.
- Familiarity with FAT/SAT procedures for control systems.
- Hands-on experience with safety control products from major vendors such as Rockwell, Pilz, Schmersal, Sick, ABB, Banner, Festo, SMC, Ross, or Siemens is highly desirable.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BE/B.Tech) in Instrumentation and Control Engineering or related field.
- TUV Certification in Machinery Safety is highly preferred.
