Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent to join our team. As the on-site leader for multi-family construction projects, the Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, coordinating crews and subcontractors, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and up to quality standards.
The Construction Superintendent will be the face of the company on-site, serving as the primary liaison with local authorities, inspectors, and utility providers. The candidate will be an initiative-taking, safety-conscious leader with a passion for high-quality construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site construction activities, managing day-to-day operations from ground break to close-out.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact with clients, inspectors, utility companies, and local authorities to ensure compliance and coordination.
- Supervise and direct in-house crews and subcontractors, ensuring work meets standards and deadlines.
- Monitor site conditions and progress, proactively addressing delays or quality issues.
- Implement lean construction practices to ensure workflow efficiency and minimize waste.
- Conduct daily huddles and weekly planning to maintain team alignment and progress.
- Promote and enforce jobsite safety policies, conducting inspections, and ensuring OSHA compliance through daily oversight and communication.
- Develop and maintain “look ahead” schedules, identifying and resolving project constraints.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and other team members to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
- Conduct regular inspections to verify work quality and adherence to building codes and project specs.
- Manage site documentation, including daily logs, RFIs, submittals, time tracking, deliveries, and inspection reports.
- Lead or participate in meetings with subcontractors, stakeholders, and inspectors.
- Coordinate material deliveries and manage equipment needs to keep projects running efficiently.
- Represent the company professionally in all jobsite communications and meetings.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Multi-family construction experience is required.
- High school diploma or GED required; degree in Construction Management or related field a plus.
- 5 years of experience as a construction supervisor or superintendent.
- Deep knowledge of building codes, jobsite safety, and construction processes.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing crews and subcontractors.
- Proficiency with construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, PlanGrid).
- OSHA 30 Certification required.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical plans.
- Initiative-taker with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk active construction sites, including uneven terrain and stairs.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and wear necessary PPE.
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Work in a range of environmental conditions including outdoor weather, dust, and noise.
- Periods of sitting, walking, standing, and working on a computer as needed.
