Foundry Laborer – Sand & Industrial Cleanup

Gartland Foundry is seeking dependable, career-minded individuals for a physically demanding industrial labor position. This is not hotel, janitorial, or housekeeping cleaning. This role involves heavy-duty sand removal and industrial cleanup inside an active manufacturing foundry.

We are looking for individuals who take pride in reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and committing to their role.

The current shift is Monday - Thursday , 2:00 pm - 12:00 am (Midnight). Overtime may be available; no overtime on Sundays. Additional overtime may be available in other departments if employee is interested in additional hours.

Probationary Pay starts at $20.50/hr, plus a $0.80/hr shift differential. After a 75-Day probationary period, it will increase to $20.69/hr, plus a $0.80/hr shift differential.

This position involves:

• Shoveling and raking large volumes of sand
• Working around heavy machinery
• Climbing ladders and accessing tight spaces
• Performing manual labor for extended periods
• Working in a dirty, dusty industrial environment
• Working indoors in a non-climate-controlled facility (hot in summer, cold in winter)

If you are looking for hotel cleaning, office cleaning, or light janitorial work, this is not that type of position.

Summary Description:

This position performs various cleaning duties to dispose of the excess sand around the foundry to maintain a safe work environment.

Essential Functions:

• Shovel and rake sand from under machines to hoppers for recycling
• Shovel sand to hoppers or to areas to be picked up by floor sweeper
• Operate forktruck (if trained)
• Assist in training co-workers
• Maintain a good attendance record
• Keep work area clean and perform housekeeping duties
• Inspect own work
• Record data as required on all internal documents
• Comply with Company safety policies and procedures
• Perform set-ups, attend to minor breakdowns and report other equipment conditions as necessary
• Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned

Skills or Experience Required:

• Team-oriented mindset
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Basic math skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred (but not required)

Must be able to use the following machines, tools, equipment, and/or work aids:

• Hand tools
• Power tools

Beneficial to know how to use:

• Forklifts
• Cranes
• End loader
• Electric/Manual conveyors
• Cutting torch
