Garrett Brown Designs (GBD), founded in 2014, is a leading fabricator of custom furniture, architectural millwork, and casework for hospitality, commercial, and high-end residential spaces throughout the western United States. We are seeking an experienced Shop Manager to lead day-to-day shop operations, support our production team, and partner closely with Project Management and Leadership to deliver exceptional work—on time and on budget. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical expertise with people management, planning, and process oversight.
Role Overview
As Shop Manager, you will oversee shop staff, and workflows across multiple active projects, working closely with the Ops Manager and other Department leads. You will play a key role in aligning labor and resources with project priorities, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a safe, organized, and efficient shop environment. This is a mid/senior-level position that requires strong communication skills and deep knowledge of woodworking (and metalworking familiarity is a plus).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise shop staff, including woodworkers and welders
- Assign labor and materials to meet budgeted hours and delivery deadlines
- Partner with Project Managers to coordinate priorities, timelines, and installs
- Monitor quality control and ensure shop standards are consistently met
- Support training, mentoring, and performance development of shop staff
- Maintain a safe, organized shop following OSHA standards, 6S, and Lean practices
- Collaborate with the office team to track inventory, materials, and deliveries
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce rework

Position Qualifications
Required:
- 5 years of experience in a professional woodworking or fabrication shop
- Strong technical understanding of custom furniture and/or millwork production
- Proven ability to read drawings, cut lists, and production documents
- Valid, active driver’s license
Preferred:
- 3 years of experience managing or leading a team of 5 employees
- Installation experience (local and/or national)
- Familiarity with metal fabrication processes
- Experience coordinating labor hours against project budgets

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
